Introduction

At this exciting time for our benefice, we are looking for a leader who will facilitate spiritual and numerical growth across our communities. Located in the Vale of York in beautiful North Yorkshire, our three churches present great potential with a growing sense that we need to reach out and demonstrate our faith effectively to our communities.

Following the retirement of our previous vicar, as we move forward on our Christian journey, we are seeking someone who is Christ-like, Spirit-filled, servant-hearted, people-loving and purpose-driven. Our new vicar will be an inspiring leader with a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, recognising the need for developing the spiritual life of our communities, and helping us reach the younger generations.  This is a 0.6 position.

All Saints’ Church at Kirby Hill, St Mary and All Saints’ Church at Cundall, and St Helen’s Church at Skelton have different histories and stories to tell. Our historic walls on the outside belie the spiritual life within them, and this keeps us moving forward – living, loving, and learning – as effective witnesses for Christ.

Our benefice is set in open landscape with the North York Moors to the east and the Yorkshire Dales to the west. Also within the boundary of our benefice is the Church of Christ the Consoler, a beautiful Victorian church in the Newby Hall Estate, which is under the control of The Churches Conservation Trust (Leeds Office).

Each of the churches hold a range of services and activities – as you will see from our vibrant benefice brochure – as well as numerous special events to actively encourage engagement with people from across the benefice who don’t normally attend church. This involves thinking creatively about how to best engage our community effectively, presenting the Christian message meaningfully and relevantly, whilst also celebrating the beauty of our context – beautiful historic churches set in the glorious North Yorkshire countryside.

If you believe God might be calling you to join us in sharing the love of God with our community and to play your unique part in building the Kingdom of God as Vicar of our benefice, we’d love to hear from you.
