Introduction

The Diocese of Truro is currently undertaking a grassroots change aimed at positioning the Church in Cornwall to tackle the biggest spiritual and societal needs of Cornwall in the 21st Century, this work has been undertaken by the local church, through engagement with a deanery planning process.

Main Responsibilities

The Communications & Influence Officer will be key to this work – ensuring that core messages reach as widely as possible and that our stakeholders are heard. It is a role that will work across the organisation: leading the communications planning for our Change & Renewal programme; organising stakeholder engagement events; supporting colleagues to plan and create content in a range of media; and contribute to the wider work of the Communications team.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced communications professional who is skilled at across all the common tools and media including socials, web, print and digital. This role needs someone who is great with people; able to adjust communications to the audience and passionate about ensuring stakeholder voice is heard. Experience of communications and event planning is important, as is sufficient knowledge of media and communications current practice to be able to advise colleagues.

There will be opportunities to utilise and develop skills in a range of areas depending on experience, such as design, story writing, video editing and podcasting.
