Overview

Rector (part-time) of Keston, a small rural community within the London Borough of Bromley

[This is a re-posting]

Introduction

Keston (pop. 3,000) is predominantly residential and lies within the London Borough of Bromley, approximately 13 miles from Central London and has origins back to Roman times.  The community has a mix of older and younger families and can be described as 'mainly affluent'.

The parish church dates back to medieval times and is surrounded by old churchyard (now closed, but with space for cremated remains.  The last quinquennial (in 2022) found the fabric of the building to be in very good condition.

Further details can be found on the church website: http://www.kestonparishchurch.org.uk

Main Responsibilities

Lead the church in worship (CW Eucharist with robed choir; AWA 56 adults and up to 5 children).  Services on the first Sunday are less informal with worship songs and a singing group.  We hope our new priest will be open to reinstating our midweek service, as well as a monthly BCP Evensong.

Work collaboratively with the lay leaders and the 12 PCC members.

Build on the existing relationship with the local Church Primary School.

Play a part in the outreach and fellowship of the church.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be:

* a collaborative, energetic and outgoing leader, with an ability to enliven and rejuvenate the church without alienating the congregation or community.

* pastorally sensitive and someone who can rise to the challenge of making Jesus' teachings relevant in today's world.

* someone with a proven willingness to engage with the Church Primary School.

About us

Our congregation could be described as 'middle of the road', enjoying the comfort of the familiar but open to new ideas and changes where appropriate.

You will be supported by a Licensed Lay Minister and a willing team of lay volunteers, as well as a part-time Admin Assistant and Hall Manager.

For full details of the vacancy, please see the accompanying Parish Profile.
