Introduction

We are seeking a Vicar to help us discover God’s vision for how we can live Christ’s story in this new season of our church life. We desire to grow in discipleship and deepen our unity so that we can reach those beyond our church walls.

Our new Vicar will enjoy a varied ministry and purposefully engage with our diverse community including civic engagements. They will have a heart for the gospel and sharing it with others – both enabling us to evangelise and modelling it in their life and ministry. 

We don’t expect our Vicar to do everything and we wouldn’t want to appoint someone who feels that they must. We work well as a team, with committed wardens, lay and ordained colleagues and a parish administrator. We will pray for you, support you practically and enjoy sharing in ministry with you.

You will find us in the beautiful coastal town of Scarborough.  We are praying for you, excited about our future and finding the person God is calling to lead us forward into the plans we know he has for us.

Main responsibilities:
  1. To work with the PCC and congregations to set a vision for the parishes and to lead the church effectively and prayerfully with regard to its implementation.
  2. To cherish diversity in worship embracing the breadth of worship within the church and making provision for the needs of all ages. 
  3. To encourage and enable those of all ages to use their gifts, being practically involved in this and where necessary taking a leading role. 
  4. To lead the churches in evangelism and outreach.
  5. To teach the bible with application, nurturing church members in their discipleship.
  6. To develop pastoral care across the parish, having an understanding and appreciation of the diversity across our community.
  7. To deepen the shared life of our congregations and expressions of worship, identifying how resources and gifts can be shared 
  8. To work with other denominations within the town and contribute actively to the life of the deanery and be committed to the civic responsibilities.
We are looking for a vicar who will:

  • Deepen our discipleship, growing our faith and varied expressions of ministry

Under current immigration rules, it is not generally possible for us to appoint clergy who are not already eligible to work in the UK.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure.
