Introduction
The Rivers Partnership was formed as a plurality when the Derwent Ings Benefice of 5 churches and the Escrick Group of 3 churches joined together in January 2022.
Situated in the Vale of York, just a few miles south east of the city, these beautiful rural communities have easy access to amenities on the outskirts of York and in the city centre. Bordered by the river Ouse to the west, the river Derwent to the east and with the Pocklington Canal to the south there are countryside walks, nature trails and water sports on your doorstep as well as an area steeped in history.

Our worship and our connection with the people of our village communities are at the centre of our priorities and we want to offer a genuine and inclusive welcome to all. We offer a range of different services across the Rivers Partnership. Our pattern of services includes 8am, 8.30am, 9am, 10.30am, 4pm, 6pm and 6.30pm across the month. Our worship ranges from ‘high church,’ to ‘low church,’ and everything in between. Some are quiet and reflective some are noisy and interactive. Some are traditional and some are alternative. Hopefully something to suit everyone!
We value our strong links with our local schools, local organisations and friendly communities. Many of your beautiful churches date back to the 14th century, but are well maintained and adapted for use as community spaces, where possible.
The post includes an attractive 4-bedroom vicarage in the village of Escrick set in a large mature garden, close to York and Selby with good links to the A64 and A19
We are praying for an Assistant Minister who:
Will work in partnership with our vicar, Lay & Authorised Ministers and all office holders, to deepen and extend the shared life and ministry of the Partnership.
Will be an encouraging, prayerful and visible pastoral presence within our caring and active village communities across the Partnership.
Has a genuine desire to communicate and connect joyfully with people of all ages.
Will contribute to the nurture of our good relationships with our local schools.
Wants to work with us to make God’s love visible in our communities.
Will play an active part in the sacramental ministry of the parishes, including occasional offices

Under current immigration rules, it is not generally possible for us to appoint clergy who are not already eligible to work in the UK.
