Introduction

We are seeking to appoint a competent and theologically able Anglican, to act as Lead Chaplain for Thames Valley Police (TVP), supporting the force in the delivery of its wellbeing strategy. In this role, you will provide personal, practical, and spiritual care to police officers, staff, and their families of all faiths and none.
The successful candidate will be employed by the Oxford Diocesan Board of Finance, working full-time for Thames Valley Police. There is a requirement to have a Licence to Officiate from the Bishop of Oxford.

As Lead Chaplain, you will manage a Chaplaincy service in TVP with a team of volunteer chaplains. They are a group of experienced, trained volunteers who offer their time and passion because they appreciate the job that police officers, staff, and their families do for our communities

To apply for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
  • Be an Ordained Anglican Priest who is theologically qualified, with experience in ministry,
  • Be able to relate theology to contemporary issues, 
  • Be able to understand the challenges faced by police officers, staff, and their families, 
  • Possess strong communication and leadership skills, 
  • Be able to promote inclusivity and diversity,
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office,
  • Be able to engage with diverse communities to maintain and build multi-faith networks throughout Thames Valley Police and community links.    
Whilst the core location for the role is in Kidlington, the Lead Chaplain will also travel to police stations and community venues across the Thames Valley, so a driving licence is required. The role also offers elements of hybrid working.
