Priest of Liverpool Cathedral - House for Duty

As a member of the Clergy team at Liverpool Cathedral, you will play an active role in leading worship, preaching and teaching, pastoral care and outreach. You will be supportive of the Cathedral’s vision of ‘Encounter’ and embrace the Cathedral’s values of Excellence, Integrity, Inclusivity and being Dynamic. You will report to the Dean and also work closely with the Canon for Mission and Faith Development. 

The successful candidate for this role will be a priest in the Anglican Communion, in good standing with the Church of England. This role would suit someone who is retired, about to retire, or someone looking for a part-time priestly role within a Cathedral setting. The post Holder should have the following requirements: 

• Experience of working with volunteers 

• An accomplished team player, but able to take appropriate initiative when required. 

• Experience and competence in public speaking, preaching and teaching 

• Pastoral sensitivity and sure-footedness with regard to the needs of the diverse range of visitors, pilgrims and worshippers who come to Liverpool Cathedral; and able to maintain confidentiality, especially when handling sensitive personal information. 

• Excellent time management, reliable and dependable. 

• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office 

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills 

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English. 

• Organisational and planning skills. 

• Open to a range of Christian traditions and styles. 

• Open to the contemplative traditions and able to encourage others to explore those spiritual disciplines.
