Introduction

Are you a leader with a passion for fostering growth and development in ministry? We seek a confident and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Ministry. In this pivotal role, you will oversee and support the ministry team, manage a range of ministry development programs, and work with colleagues to ensure the effective implementation of diocesan strategies relating to parish and ministry changes and growth.

You will lead a skilled and enthusiastic team in their delivery of support, training and leadership to ordained and lay ministers across our diocese. The role, and the team, is strongly connected to the life of the churches across Cornwall and plays a key role in supporting them through often challenging periods of development and change.

Key aspects of the role include responsibility for the planning and delivery of training programmes including clergy development and vocations’ exploration, the implementation of the strategy for children and young people’s work, managing provision of support for ordained and lay ministers, overseeing the wider work of the team including giving and helping parishes discern their needs during interregnums; and the delivery of training and facilitation.

You will be an experienced leader and manager of people who brings extensive experience of involvement in the life, ministry and mission of the church. A theological qualification is required as is the ability and theoretical knowledge to design, lead and facilitate inclusive group learning. The right candidate will also need a strong background in effectively managing projects and budgets; along with a creative approach that inspires others.  A deep Christian faith, with the ability to communicate this clearly, is essential.

Due to the nature of the role, there is an occupational requirement to be a practising Christian.

At the Diocese of Truro, we really value work-life balance and employee wellbeing, have a friendly and supportive working environment and are committed to encouraging your development. We offer benefits to such as a range of wellbeing activities, flexible working, up to 26 days leave and a Pension Scheme with 9-15% employer contribution.
