Introduction
We are seeking a part-time (3 days plus Sundays) parish priest to re-energise, re-invigorate and lead us through the next Chapter.
The ideal candidate will be someone who:
- Fully trusts in God, has a healthy prayer life and displays openly the fruit
sof the Spirit, leading and encouraging others by their example, teaching and training. - Is fun, challenging and encouraging - a pastor and a leader.
- Knows when to say “no” to the demands of the church in order to preserve their own family and spiritual life.
- Brings the good news of the Gospel in a relevant, inspirational and applicable manner leading us to a personal trust in God.
- Leads our mixed aged and ethnic background congregation to explore other approaches in styles of worship, music and teaching.
- Is a good communicator and committed to working with families and young people.
- Can bring together the different parts / groups in our church and engender a sense of belonging to all.
With the help of our new Vicar we want to:
- Improve our prayer ministry.
- Increase our work with and in the local community.
- Encourage everyone, including our young people, to take up roles in the church community, e.g. leading prayers, reading the lessons, Sides people, PA & VA operators.
- Develop our work with young children.
About us: We are a multi-cultural church, welcoming all ethnicities with a wide range of ages. The parish is on the outskirts of Chatham, Kent and has a very diverse congregation. Commuters & young families are in the area, attracted by good housing and regular train services to Central London.
Worship is in a free style that tries to encourage the use of Spiritual Gifts. The main Sunday service is at 10am, with a more traditional Said HC at 8.30am on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Sunday. Prayer meetings take place twice a month.
The building is modern and well maintained, and extensively used by the congregation and local community. The church and hall is one room with a folding divider to separate them, which makes the space very flexible. The large entrance area incorporates the church office and toilets, and there are a further two meeting rooms, creche, vestry and kitchen on site. The hall has a number of regular community bookings including weekly NHS clinics, keep fit, children's dance, Brownies & Rainbows, and a privately-run youth club. Our own baby & toddler group is also very popular.
The Vicarage is a modern 4-bedroom (inc box room) house around a 10-minute walk from the church.
