Introduction
We are looking for a House-for-Duty vicar who will recognise that we are a multigenerational church, which has services recognising the diverse nature of the Church of England. Our vision is to be a place where people are welcomed: a vibrant and caring community where the light and love of Jesus is seen by all.
Our North Lancashire parish is in the Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty (AONB). We sit on the edge of Morecambe Bay on one side and countryside with large tracts of mixed woodland and farmland around us on the other, St John’s Church is very much the physical and spiritual centre of the village.
We are well-served by shops, doctors, a pharmacy, a library and a fire station, along with three public houses, an Indian restaurant and several cafes. Carnforth is three miles away, and Lancaster, Morecambe and Kendal are all within twelve miles. Whilst we have a very active retired population, there are also people who commute to work in Preston and Manchester. There are many families in the village and the Church Primary School acts as an excellent start for children who go on to secondary schools in Lancaster, Milnthorpe and Kirkby Lonsdale.
Our Vision is
To be a place where people are welcomed: a vibrant and caring community where the light and love of Jesus is seen by all.

- Be a true Shepherd whose priority is to live out their calling as outlined in the ordination service
