Introduction
Rector - Wokingham St Paul, Berkshire
Area Dean – Sonning Deanery
Are you ready for us?
We are ready to welcome you as our Rector and Area Dean!
St Paul’s Parish, in the market and commuter town of Wokingham, eagerly awaits your arrival. We gather to worship in a distinguished Victorian church steeped in the smell of incense, a Village Hall where the worship space is created anew for every service and a flexible, modern church building – the home of our Anglican-Methodist LEP. You will also provide wider strategic leadership in your role as Area Dean of Sonning.
As Rector will you be able to:
- galvanise and expand our children’s and young people’s work?
- revive our drive for mission and outreach through enthusiasm for relationship-building?
- bring your ideas and creativity to work with us on our plans for the future?
- develop a platform of prayer and teaching in our Parish to grow our spirituality?
- value our different styles of worship and strengthen the links between the churches?
We are a Parish with:
- effective governance that takes Safeguarding seriously.
- three distinct churches working collaboratively, committed to moving confidently into the future
- a supportive team of ministers, paid office staff and around forty volunteers
- a welcoming, inclusive church community, willing to try new things
As Area Dean, you will:
- lead and unite our deanery.
- develop our shared mission in terms of priorities and resources.
- foster the well-being of the deanery’s clergy and people.
We are a Deanery which:
- is well organised and focused on mission.
- is coming to the end of a significant time of recruitment.
- encompasses a broad range of traditions and maintains good relationships.
All appointments are subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check
