Introduction

Who we are

The Diocese of York is the Church of England between the Rivers Humber and Tees, and from the Yorkshire coast westwards to around the A1. We are seeking to Live Christ’s Story by becoming more like Christ, reaching people we currently don’t, growing churches of missionary disciples, and transforming our finances and structures.

What we’re looking for

Our Living Christ's Story (LCS) Vision and Strategy needs someone outstanding to lead its implementation, with a successful record of delivering strategic change programmes. Sympathetic to the people and purposes of the Church of England, you will work instinctively through the dynamics of complex organisations. Your creative thought, positive outlook and commitment to overcoming obstacles will drive your relentless focus on ensuring implementation to time, cost and quality

About the role

This is an externally-funded role, funded by a significant grant of Capacity Funding from the national Archbishops’ Council, supporting our ambitious vision for growth across the diocese.

The Head of Programme Delivery will lead in devising the programme of control and delivery of the Living Christ's Story diocesan strategic plan, and will drive its implementation. This will include balancing change activities with 'business as usual' across the LCS transformation programme to ensure successful delivery of its objectives.

As leader of the Programme Management Office, your responsibility for all aspects of the programme will be supported by a Programme Management Officer, and, subject to funding, by dedicated Project Managers in the primary workstreams to deliver successful strategic change.

We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and especially welcome applications from disabled candidates and those from UKME heritage as these groups are under-represented in our staff. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All employees are expected to share this commitment. A DBS check is required for this post, and you will be required to undertake safeguarding training.

Only fully completed applications through Pathways will be accepted; applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
