Introduction

Rector with Oversight Responsibilities

The Benefice of the Boscastle Group of Churches

with optional commission as Strategic Rural Dean

Welcome to a group of parishes ready for a new season
 and in need of a Rector with the gifts and graces to lead change, think strategically, enable lay ministry, and help the church to be present to each community.

WE OFFER:

  • Wild scenic coastland and beautiful village communities;
  • Places of local and historic interest on the doorstep;
  • Churches already considering the future shape of benefice life;
  • A spacious Rectory on the coast between Boscastle and St Isaac;
  • A supportive deanery ‘college’ of clergy and lay leaders;
  • A diocese committed to clergy wellbeing and development.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are seeking someone who will:

  • Focus on sustainability and fruitfulness, helping the benefice to regain a firm footing for the future;
  • Offer collaborative and strategic leadership that helps the parishes to explore new structures and ways of being;
  • Help to reinvigorate the benefice, finding opportunities for celebration, community engagement and outreach;
  • Enable the further discernment and development of lay ministry, identifying gifts and investing in new leaders;
  • Provide greater opportunities for us to grow as disciples and increased connectivity with the wider deanery.

We are also seeking someone who would be willing to take on the commission of Strategic Rural Dean and offer strategic leadership to the wider deanery. A support package is provided for the additional element of the role should the successful candidate be the right person to take on this commission..
