Introduction

Christ Church Newburgh

House for duty priest interim for 3 years

Overview

We are an evangelical church with a faithful congregation with a usual Sunday attendance of 30 people with a wonderful opportunity for a priest to be creative and introduce new acts of worship and many missional opportunities. The church building itself has great potential as a community resource which villagers would welcome.

We are looking for a passionate, pastoral, approachable, friendly and caring priest who has experience of successful leadership and a desire to see the church grow.  You will be able to identify, build and strengthen the congregation, communicate well and provide Bible based teaching to enable people to put faith into action.

We are offering you a friendly, enthusiastic church family with 3 retired clergy and extensive lay ministry.

The Vicarage is on a housing development very close to the church, detached with 5 bedrooms and garden.

Newburgh is close to Parbold with a railway station and easy access to Southport and Wigan. It is in a rural setting and has a population of about 1000 with many facilities including a post office with small shop and café, The Red Lion pub, Eden café and a farm shop Wilton House. Applecast charity supports young people with learning difficulties and Newburgh CE school is rated as Outstanding by OFSTED.

Please see the Person Specification, Role Description, Bishops’ statement and Parish Profile attached for further details of the role and the essential and desirable qualities we are seeking in relation to this post.
