Introduction
Vicar: Christ Church Aughton
Overview
We are a warm, friendly and welcoming evangelical church with a congregation of over 150 from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and different church traditions. We value Biblical tradition and cherish our sense of community. Our hearts are open to people from all walks of life. We long to see spiritual and numerical growth.
We are looking for a priest who will guide us in embracing God’s vision for the future, fostering deeper trust and collective boldness.
We are offering you excellent support from the PCC, wardens, a ministry team, an associate vicar, an active retired vicar and a Reader as well as 4 informal worship leaders and preachers. We also have many strong, committed and gifted members of the congregation doing all sorts of ministries within the church and in the community. We hope to recruit a youth worker soon.
We have a vision that the church building can be re-ordered to create a welcoming and flexible space to facilitate worship and foster fellowship. We also have a super ministry centre run by a paid part-time administrator and two part-time caretakers. It is extensively used and is also the home of Café Vista run by volunteers which provides a warm place for all and encourages meaningful connections in a faith-filled environment.
The Diocese is in the process of selling the previous Vicarage which is no longer fit for purpose
but we expect the new Vicarage will be provided within the parish.
Aughton is located in the south part of the ancient market town of Ormskirk, 14 miles north of Liverpool. Ormskirk is an historic market town with businesses ranging from professional and financial services to retail and coffee shops, restaurants and bars. The largest employers in the town are Ormskirk Hospital, Edge Hill University, and West Lancashire Borough Council. It has excellent transport links to Liverpool, Southport, Manchester and Preston. There are many beautiful walks on the doorstep whether Gorse Hill nature reserve or Martin Mere Wildfowl and Wetland Trust centre or Formby beach to name just a few places.
We are praying for the right person to step into this role and join us in sharing the hope and love of Jesus with the world. Could that be you?
