Introduction

Priest-in-Charge, The Church in the Woottons – Love-Grow-Serve
 

The Church in the Woottons seek a priest with energy and vision to serve the villages of North and South Wootton on the outskirts of the historic town of King’s Lynn and has a population of 7,500.

This is an exciting time to minister here. The new housing in the Woottons offers fresh opportunities for mission as well as engaging with established ministry.

The vision of the Church in the Woottons is to love, grow and serve, as they seek to reflect God’s love in the community.

  • Committed to Growth – through knowing God and one another
  • Committed to Community – through service and support

 

There is one PCC for both All Saints, North Wootton and St Mary’s, South Wootton.

There are 3 schools within the benefice.

 

Specific: 

To grow the Church in the Woottons by

  • Further developing relationships with the schools, uniformed organisations, care homes and the local community
  • Realising the potential for mission to the new housing developments within the parish
  • Valuing and developing the strengths of the parish, and embracing the new as the church grows
  • exploring new expressions of worship to meet the changing needs of the parish
  • deepening discipleship and spiritual growth

 

Key characteristics of post-holder:

  • recognise the importance of prayer, variety In worship, and lead a broad tradition of worship
  • an empathetic and warm leader, able to lead into growth spiritually and practically, with a pastoral heart
  • a good communicator, able to engage with different age groups
  • a visible presence, developing links with the community
  • able to encourage, train and equip others, including pastoral care within and outside of the church, and happy to delegate
  • innovative and energetic, with discernment and wisdom
  • the potential to be a training incumbent
