Introduction

St Paul’s Cathedral is seeking a Choral Animateur to help deliver our transformative Choral Partnerships Programme.

Working closely with the Artistic Director of Choral Partnerships, you will support the termly planning of and deliver weekly, whole-class singing sessions in London’s Diocesan schools, preparing pupils for meaningful performances both in their communities and at the Cathedral itself.

 What you will be doing:

  • Leading engaging, high-quality, vocal tuition sessions in Choral Partner Schools (approx. 8 hours per week)
  • Supporting planning and performance preparation across the academic year
  • Liaising with teachers, school leaders and our outreach team to coordinate school visits to the Cathedral
  • Enabling the growth of our after-school deanery choir network
  • Tracking pupil progress and celebrating musical achievements through termly reporting

What we're looking for:

  • A passionate, skilled musician with specialisation in working with children
  • Excellent communicator and confident collaborator with schools and communities
  • Highly self-motivated and professional, with a positive and enthusiastic approach
  • An ambassador for St Paul’s values and a champion of inclusive music-making
  • You would ideally be able to lead rehearsals with confidence from the piano

You will join a friendly and mission-driven team in one of the most iconic spiritual and cultural spaces in the UK, helping shape the musical journeys of young Londoners and open new pathways to choristership.

The successful applicant will also be expected to share in St Paul’s Cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Please note that this position is subject to having clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service at the  Enhanced with Barred List level.

In return you’ll find we are a welcoming place to work and we each take responsibility for our part in the Cathedral’s work, looking after St Paul’s for the next generation.

  • Our pension scheme allows for up to 7.5% employer contribution
  • And as you might expect we have life assurance of four times basic salary and an employee assistance programme

We are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic / Global Majority Heritage, women, and disabled people are currently under-represented in our workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase our representation.

The closing date for applications is 23:59, Tuesday 6th May 2025.

Interviews and observations will take place on Monday and Tuesday 19th and 20th May 2025.
