Introduction

Parcevall Hall is a peaceful place for rest and renewal at the heart of a busy diocese. We seek to encourage confidence by enhancing wellbeing and supporting spiritual growth through the place, people and programme of Parcevall Hall.

We are looking to recruit a Chaplain who will offer time for chaplaincy support for guests and staff at Parcevall Hall on a volunteer basis. 

The Chaplain is part of a team of visiting clergy who offer support for worship, prayer and pastoral care at the Hall.

The role of Chaplain is central to Parcevall Hall and the ability of the staff team to fulfil certain of its key responsibilities:

  • Being the Diocesan Retreat House centred on living, loving and learning
  • Ensuring a warm inclusive welcome to a wide range of people
  • Maintaining worship, prayer and pastoral care at the heart of all we do

Time commitment

This is flexible. Ideally a day a week, or a week a month, at Parcevall Hall.

The role is for two years in the first instance.

Essential Duties

Uphold the ethos of Parcevall Hall as the Diocesan Retreat Centre through Anglican worship and prayer inclusive of evangelical, liberal and sacramental traditions 

Ensure Tuesday Communions and support clergy on the rota

Ensure pastoral care and one to one listening for guests, when possible

Offer pastoral care to the staff team 

Developmental role

Produce written and/or visual spiritual resources that can be shared widely 

Work with the Director and Diocesan staff to develop the future role of chaplaincy at Parcevall Hall

Person specification

Priest in the Church of England with permission to officiate in the Diocese of Leeds (essential)

Experience of chaplaincy ministry (desirable)

Experience of Christian residential ministry (desirable)

Subject to an enhanced DBS check
